How to Play (Instructions)
- 1
Spot the Odd One Out
This game tests your visual perception and concentration. You must identify the single block that differs in color from the rest within a grid of color blocks before time runs out.
- 2
Rules
Among the displayed blocks, there is exactly one that differs slightly in color from the others. Quickly find and tap it. The color difference can be subtle, so careful observation is required.
- 3
Time Limit
Each round has a time limit; failing to find the odd block in time results in a "Game Over." The time limit decreases as you advance to higher levels, requiring faster decision-making.
Cognitive Functions You Will Train
Training Visual Discrimination and Selective Attention
This game effectively trains visual discrimination (the ability to accurately distinguish subtle color differences) and selective attention (the ability to focus solely on a target amidst numerous stimuli) by challenging players to identify a single differently colored block from a group of color blocks within a time limit. As the time limit decreases with each level, the game also stimulates processing speed (the ability to quickly recognize and make decisions based on visual information) and sustained attention (the ability to maintain focus under time pressure). Furthermore, the process of spotting the odd color among similar ones places a strong demand on inhibitory control—the ability to suppress the automatic impulse to be drawn to similar colors and instead make calm, objective comparisons. These cognitive functions are primarily associated with the parietal lobe and prefrontal cortex; repeated play can lead to improved observational skills in daily life and enhanced quick decision-making capabilities in crowded or busy situations.
